Reg at Ground Level
The mountain, which stands entirely within the boundaries of Tanzania, rises to 19,340ft and is not only Africa’s tallest peak but is also the highest free standing mountain in the world. It was there Reg Alexander found himself one chilly morning in November 2009. At the grand old age of 78 (and a bit) Reg was ready to undertake his 3rd trip up the ‘little hill’. He went up plain Reg Alexander but when he returned from a successful climb to the summit he was Reg. Alexander, the oldest Briton to have climbed the mountain.
CONGRATULATIONS REG.
His feat was recognised by Guinness World Records. A copy of his certificate is pictured alongside

We finally caught up with Reg. but he wasn't up a mountain at the time. In fact he was below Ground Level in a drainage ditch. From one extreme to another we suppose. However at last we had the chance to talk face to face with him and get the story behind the story of his epic ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro. The tale is unfolded in the text and pictures below
